Air France is resuming its direct Cape Town–Paris Charles de Gaulle service on 22 September 2026, restoring one of the few non-stop links between South Africa and continental Europe ahead of the Cape Town summer season.

Route Details

The service launches with three weekly flights from 22 September and operates at that frequency through 31 October. From November, Air France increases to five weekly departures, holding that schedule through March 2027 to cover the Cape Town summer peak.

The Cape Town–CDG sector takes approximately 11 hours southbound and around 12 hours northbound. Paris CDG offers connections onward to most of Europe and further afield within a single terminal.

Timing and the Cape Town Season

The route resumes at a practical moment. Cape Town enters its dry, warm season in October, with long days running through April - which maps closely to the period of highest Air France frequency. The five-weekly schedule from November through March covers school holiday periods in both France and South Africa, which typically drives the most demand.

UK and northern European travellers who normally route through Johannesburg now have a Paris option available. For those already based in France or connecting through CDG, it removes a domestic connection entirely.

Planning Your Trip

For guided experiences across the Cape Peninsula, winelands, and surrounding regions, our Cape Town activities guide covers the main options. A full loop around the sights of South Africa generally requires at least ten days; our Cape Town itineraries page has structured routes from 3 to 14 days, with day-by-day breakdowns.

Tickets are on sale through Air France directly. The five-weekly frequency applies from November - confirm your travel dates against the schedule before booking onward connections. Compare flights to South Africa across Air France and other carriers to find the best fares and timing for your trip.
